Paris And Benji Split

Now call us crazy, but here at MTV News we really thought Paris Hilton had settled down with Good Charlotte star Benji Madden.

But after 9 months of dating, declarations of love and talk of wanting "3 or 4 babies" the couple have broken up!

The split is thought to have occurred after Paris was spotted getting cosy with ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos in Miami at the weekend.

A source told US Weekly: "Even though they are still in love, they felt it would be better to just be friends. Benji was overprotective and controlling."

The split comes just a month after Benji told the magazine; "I wear my feelings on my sleeve. I'm very open about how in love I am - Paris and I are very happy."

The pair were thought to be a perfect match with Benjis brother Joel dating Paris BFF Nicole Ritchie.

Paris publicist Alanna McCarthy has now confirmed the split but claims that the two remain very good friends.
