Patrick Swayze has confirmed he has pancreatic cancer but denied reports that he has just weeks to live.

'The National Enquirer' has claimed that the 55 year old is dying and could have five weeks to live.

But his doctor released a statement saying: "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far."

He continued: "All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue."

The magazine says the star of Dirty Dancing and Ghost was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January and that it has spread to other organs.

They claim Swayze has been having radical chemotherapy treatment recently but that doctors are not optimistic it will kill the disease.

An insider told 'The National Enquirer':

"He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure."
