Paul McCartney Marries
He weds Nancy Shevell in a London registry office…
Paul McCartney has got married for the third time, to American businesswoman Nancy Shevell.
The pair got hitched at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London, where Paul married his first wife Linda in 1969, with the reception held in the back garden of the star’s home in St John’s Wood.
The couple arrived together at the registry office in central London just before 3.30pm on Sunday and happily posed for photographers for several minutes. The bride wore a simple knee-length dress, designed by Stella McCartney, and held a small bouquet of roses. The groom wore a navy suit and blue tie and did a thumbs-up gesture to the assembled fans before making his way into the ceremony.
Only about a dozen family members and close friends, including Ringo Starr, attended the low-key service.
In the lead-up to the big day, The Beatles legend spoke to reporters outside his home. "Hi guys, thanks for coming out. We're looking forward to it," he said, and laughed when asked if he felt nervous. "Don't be silly, now. Of course not."
Paul's first wife died of breast cancer in 1998. His second marriage, to Heather Mills, ended in divorce in 2008.
Today would have been his songwriting partner John Lennon’s 71st birthday.
