Pete Davidson Gets Candid About Ariana Grande Split On Saturday Night Live

The jokes have stopped

Pete Davidson has opened up about his split from Ariana Grande and has told fans that he wishes his ex-fiancée “all the happiness in the world” going forwards.

The comedian might have cracked a few jokes about their failed engagement recently, but he decided to get serious about their break-up during his Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live.

At the end of his segment, he said: “I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is it’s nobody’s business and sometimes things just don’t work out. And that’s okay.

"She’s a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world. Now, please go vote on Tuesday, all right?"

This was broadcast just thirty minutes after Ariana had released ‘Thank U, Next’ into the world, which features the singer praising her ex-boyfriends for teaching her valuable lessons in life.

The lyrics read: “Thought I'd end up with Sean/But he wasn't a match/Wrote some songs about Ricky/Now I listen and laugh/Even almost got married/And for Pete I'm so thankful/Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm [Miller]/Cause he was an angel."

This is all a world away from the time she tweeted about his attempts to “cling to relevancy” and it sounds like both she and Pete are finally moving a step in the right direction when it comes to putting their split behind them.

Like Pete said, sometimes these things just don’t work out.
