It’s all gone right for Pete Tong!
The British DJ has been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s honours list for his services to broadcasting and music.
“It's great to receive this honour for being a DJ,” said Tong. “I'm proud that it acknowledges a profession that I care about a great deal, and one that’s made a huge impact around the world.”
Earlier this year the veteran DJ relocated to Los Angeles for his radio show although he continues to host a weekly show on Radio 1.
“I'd like to thank all the club promoters in the UK and around the world for their passion and commitment to putting on amazing events and the artists producers and DJs that have been making and innovating with the music,” continued Pete. “This wouldn't have happened without so many great tunes.”
“Finally, to my family and team who have supported me on this journey in so many ways - thank you.”
Tong kicked off his career in the 1970s and he was instrumental in introducing house music to the UK. He continues to tour, making regular appearance in Ibiza, and recently released a compilation album called The Pete Tong Collection.
Currently he is working on a film with Lionsgate (the producers of Twilight) although no details of the project have yet been released.
