Alex Kapranos: 'Pharrell Williams Borrowed Our Riff'

Franz Ferdinand star calls super-producer out over soundalike song on Twitter...

Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos has suggested that Pharrell Williams has "borrowed" the riff from one of his band's tracks.

The lead singer and guitarist of the Scottish band directed a tweet at Pharrell after noticing a similarity between Paloma Faith's new single Can't Rely On You and his band's breakthrough hit Take Me Out.

Hey @Pharrell - I love your tunes. If you want to borrow a riff, just ask... https://t.co/UInlWYxcKg

The Paloma Faith track is written and produced by Pharrell and he also features on it.

Kapranos wrote on Twitter: "Hey @Pharrell - I love your tunes. If you want to borrow a riff, just ask..."

One of Kapranos' followers on the social networking site responded with a gag about Pharrell's Grammy Awards headgear, writing: "Maybe you could buy him a new hat once he's paid up?"

And Alex answered: "Let's hope it's a hit, then. Again."

Pharrell had not responded at the time of writing.
