Pharrell Williams Gets 'Happy' At The Oscars 2014

The likes of Pink and Idina Menzel also took to the stage at the ceremony...

With all of the actors in Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre so happy to be at The Oscars last night (Sunday, March 2), it was only right for the Academy to have Pharrell Williams offer up the first performance of the night.

Dressed in his now-trademarked big hat, red glittery high-top sneakers and black Adidas track jacket, the Get Lucky singer bounded onstage to offer up his Oscar-nominated song, Happy.

As Skateboard P sang his infectious ode with glee, the normally stoic Oscar audience couldn't help but join in on the fun, getting up out of their seats to dance and clap along.

First up was the beautiful Lupita Nyong'o. The Best Supporting Actress winner shimmied out of her chair for a very excited Pharrell, who had jumped down offstage to interact with the crowd.

In the front row, Oscar mainstay Meryl Streep (nominated 18 times) was coaxed out of her seat as well for an impromptu dance, a moment we expect will go viral.

Back onstage, Pharrell was joined by Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, who surprised everyone as he boogied with the cadre of preppy-dressed teens onstage.

To close out his brief set, Williams posed with his arms outstretched as if they were airplane wings, which is the perfect image for a resurgent superproducer/artist whose career has been cleared for takeoff.

Other performers included Pink - who made her Oscar debut with an enchanting rendition of Over The Rainbow - and Idina Menzel, who took to the stage to sing Let It Go from hit movie Frozen - with the track going on to beat Pharrell in the Best Song category.
