Pixie Lott Set For Number One
The pop princess could knock BEP off the top-spot this weekend...
If you haven’t heard of Pixie Lottby now, chances are you will do very soon! The 18 year old pop-princess is heading for No.1 this weekend with her debut single Mama Do.
Unlike many of our current female pop-divas, Pixie didn’t start her career at the famous Brit School. Instead after spotting an ad in The Stage ‘seeking the next pop diva’, the then 14 year old Pixie nagged her mum to let her audition.
That audition in turn led to the Essex girl being flown to New York, before two years of writing, recording and traveling the globe eventually led to a major label deal and her forthcoming debut album, Turn It Up.
Despite being compared to many of her peers, Pixie is keen to point out that she her own musical style to offer. "I've been compared to every female pop singer going, from Lady Ga Ga, to Mariah Carey to Christina Aguilera. It's absolutely fine. I take it as a compliment.” She told the Daily Record.
"The reason why they compare me to Duffy is because we both like soul music. Duffy is more retro and my stuff is more current and more fresh. We are both really different."
She is also quick to point out that despite her sudden rise to fame, she certainly won’t be letting it go to her head. "The reason people have compared me to Amy (Winehouse) is because Mama Do has that kind of sound. That's the only reason.
"I am surrounded by good people at the label, friends and family. I've never been involved in drugs or any of that crazy stuff. I haven't ever tried it and if I was going to do it, I would have done it by now. I won't ever get caught up in that craziness."
In the album charts, Kasabian's third album, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, is on course to knock Paolo Nutini's Sunny Side Up off the No.1 spot.
