Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! are the first Pokémon games slated for Nintendo's amazing hybrid system, Nintendo Switch and we cannot WAIT to get stuck into them later this month.

But with the confusion about the versions of the same Pokémon Let's Go games - not to mention the other Pokémon games announced at the same time! - it's still hard to know exactly what's what. So here are our top picks of what you need to know about Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!

1. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee takes place in Kanto

Yes, we're in Kanto! Our pals at The Pokémon Company have published a lovely map confirming we're heading back to the beautiful region, where we were first introduced to the original 150 Pokemon, for Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee.

2. You still get to carry a group of your fave Pokémon in your party

As we get used to the coming together of favourite old school Pokémon games and the mobile pehnomenon, Pokémon Go, we're still learning which parts of which games will feature in Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee. We can now confirm that you can have up to six Pokémon in your party at one time, but the coolest thing about this is that they'll display according to scale when they're walking or interacting with you… which means the really big ones, you can ride!

3. Which edition you pick will affect more than just your Pokémon

Just like the classic Pokemon games, like Pokemon Red and Blue and Pokemon Sun and Moon, there are two editions of this one to choose from: Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! Besides the obvious - you'll get Pikachu as your partner Pokémon if you buy Let's Go Pikachu, and Eevee if you buy Let's Go Eevee - is there really much difference between the different editions? Turns out that yes, there is. Some Pokémon will be exclusive to the individual edition - for instance, Polygon reports Oddish, Sandshrew and Growlithe will only team up with Pikachu, whereas Bellsprout, Vulpix, and Meowth will only play for Team Eevee - but your ability to travel is also affected. Pikachu's nifty surfboard makes water-travel fun, but only Eevee can fly about with a balloon. You'll also get a different "partner power", too!

4. Let's Go goes retro with first gen Pokémon pals...

Right now, it's only the first gen Pokémon that'll be dancing around, waiting for you to catch 'em. We've had a few specific confirmations, too; Mewtwo will be there, plus Mega Evolutions of the three Kanto starters (Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard X and Y and Mega Blastoise), Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno, and the all-new Pokémon we're super excited about, Meltan!

Will you pick Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu! or Pokemon: Let's Go Eevee!? / Nintendo

5. …but some old friends might turn up, too!

Lieutenant Surge, Team Rocket's Jessie and James, plus Professor Oak, Misty, and Brock are confirmed.

6. You'll be able to catch 'em all throwing Poké Balls like in Pokémon Go!

Pokémon Go was the first to let us catch Pokémon by throwing a ball, as before we had to use a battle system that made you take strategic turns with the Pokémon. Let's Go uses the newer system, though, letting us use the Switch's Joy-Con to throw Poké Balls, catch those wild 'Mons, and add to our Pokédexes!

7. The game is out on November 16th

Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee releases worldwide on Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018.
