The rumours were true, at least in part.
The rumours were true, at least in part. Starbucks and Pokémon Go has done a team-up and the result is a whopping 7,800 new PokéStops and Gyms in Starbucks shops.
The part of the rumour you may have already seen that hasn’t come true is the 100 new Pokémon which haven’t appeared, yet.
So what’s happened? Starbucks and Pokémon Go creator Niantic Labs have done a deal that will let gamers use the coffee shops to battle and train. Apparently you won’t have to even buy anything - although we imagine you won’t need to go all the way inside to activate the PokéStop or Gym anyway.
If you do venture into one of these Starbucks - which are US only right now - then you’ll be met with a new Pokémon themed drink. The Pokémon Go Frappuccino is a special edition drink designed for those playing the game. By locating and discovering the Starbucks shop within the game you’ll unlock the new drink.
Starbucks describes the drink: “The Pokémon GO Frappuccino starts with a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino blended beverage and raspberry syrup blended with freeze-dried whole blackberries and topped with whipped cream.” It will be available at the 7,800 participating shops for a limited time only, says the coffee chain.
