WTF? All The Gyms Are Closing In Pokemon Go
Could this mean a big change is coming?
Brace yourself, Pokemon Go-ers - things are about to change in the world of augmented-reality Pokemon catching!
While some of us are indulging in the Solstice Celebrations as part of Pokemon Go’s first anniversary, developer Niantic has confirmed that from today, Pokemon Go is disabling its gyms…
HIT PLAY TO SEE THE TRAILER FOR EVERY NEW GAME OUT THIS MONTH...
I know what you’re thinking - who wants to go to the gym in this summer weather anyway, eh?!
Why? Well, beyond the cryptic tweet’s reference to “exciting new features” we’re not sure, but writing on Reddit, rep for Niantic - who make the game - NianticGeorge said it was in preparation for a new update. Could we be getting multiplayer gym battles soon…?
“You know, the gym mechanic is something in Pokémon Go which we really, really want to improve, so that’s gonna be the next big area for us,” Niantic’s Mike Quigley said last month.
“The capture mechanic is fun, but you’re a lone wolf, you’re going out there on your own. Maybe you’re with friends, but there’s not that, kind of, connected experience. We think there is an opportunity for collaboration in that area, but more to come on that.”
Did you catch (get it? Catch? Okay, I’m sorry) the recent news that Niantic was cracking down on Pokemon Go cheaters who use third party tracking apps?
