Pokemon Sun & Moon Will Let You Scan Real Life Objects To Find New Characters

The next Pokemon game is going to be more different than ever before.

The next Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games are still a ways off but more fun details are being unveiled, the latest showing off a cool tech integration.

Gamers will be able to use the cameras on their Nintendo 3DS handhelds to scan in QR codes (like barcodes but better). These codes will reveal information about, and locations of Pokémon in the Alola region so that you can seek them out and make them your own.

If you want to share, you can display the QR code for a Pokémon in your Pokédex for others to scan. They will then be able to see the Pokémon, information about it and it's location in the Alola region so they can seek it out themselves.

Where these real world QR codes will appear is unclear. The game's official site simply says: "There are QR Code patterns in various places all around you, so try scanning them." It seems likely that we'll be seeing advertising posters, magazine adverts and more with QR codes that will help to expand the virtual world of Pokémon into the real world.

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will be released on Nintendo 3DS on 18 November. Expect to hear a lot more details ahead of then from the E3 2016 gaming event where the game will be played live and broadcast for all to enjoy.
