The first trailer for the Poltergeist reboot has been unveiled, and it actually made us jump a few times.

[related]Reprising the premise of the original, we see the new Freeling family bare witness to a haunting in their peaceful American suburb, with a whole load of scary clowns.

What with technology having moved on just a bit since 1982, the TV's are now huge flatscreen ones, obviously.

Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris, Nicholas Braun and Jane Adams all star in the film, along with a couple of ghosts or two.

The new Poltergeist is set for release July 2015.
