Power Rangers Film Reboot Coming 2016
A fresh retelling of the iconic property is morphing its way to cinemas...
Who’s ready to battle outlandish aliens with karate moves and overacting?
Twenty years after first appearing on television screens and 17 years since their last movie, the Power Rangers are returning to theatres with a new film scheduled for July 2016.
Originally based on a Japanese show, the Power Rangers follow a group of teenagers who are endowed with special powers, allowing them to morph into a superhero state in order to defend the planet against extraterrestrial foes. When engaging larger enemies, they are also able to combine into a large mecha-like machine.
The rangers are easily recognised by their iconic coloured suits, which have subsisted through more than 15 different TV series.
No details about the project are known, other than it being tangentially connected to the long-running franchise.
Star Trek 3 director Roberto Orci is producing the Power Rangers film; he previously co-wrote the Transformers movies, another toy-linked property with colossal robots.
