Just when we were getting into the Christmas spirit and looking forward to eating 4,000 mince pies over the course of the next 10 days, Marlene King has ruined EVERYTHING.

The Pretty Little Liars creator has revealed that the show's next season will be itslast – especially if she has anything to do with it.

Thanks to the new storyline and Big Bad that’s on its way in January, Marlene has now admitted that she’d be happy for season 7 to be the end of the road for our favourite girls.

Talking to Variety, she explained: “I think that this story,when we’re back, will end next year at the at end of Season 7.”

After being asked if that meant she actually wants the show to conclude then, Marlene broke our hearts with a simple word: “Correct”.

Back in the summer, it felt like the show-runner was still open to taking PLL further, telling the same mag: “I think we’ll let the fans tell us what they want. We’re open to that…I’m all for it. Yes, we’re in.”

But CLEARLY she’s changed her mind, and while that’s obviously devastating, it might mean that the storyline is seriously good and worthy of an incredible send off.

There’s also the small matter of Marlene working on a new show for ABC starring Bella Thorne called Famous In Love which is probably going to start taking up a lot of her time, but let’s not even get into that right now. We’re just too upset.
