Prince William & Kate Middleton Set The Date

The royal wedding will take place on 29th April 2011 at Westminster Abbey...

Prince Williamand Kate Middleton's wedding will take place next year, on Friday 29th April at Westminster Abbey.
Will's private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, confirmed the news this morning, saying of the happy couple: "They’re on cloud nine like any other newly engaged couple and they’re now getting stuck into organising their wedding."
"They are completely over the moon. They are very much in charge if the arrangements. I’ve never seen two happier people which is fabulous."

According to the Guardian, the pair, who confirmed their engagement last week, chose Westminster Abbey as the venue for its "beauty and relative intimacy."

It is also where William's grandparents tied the knot, as well as being the venue for his mother, Diana Princess of Wales' funeral back in 1997, when the Prince was just 15-years old.

The Royal family and the Middleton's will pay for the ceremony, although it is thought that the cost of security for their big day will be covered by taxes.

It has also been confirmed that their chosen date will be a public bank holiday, marking the start of a four-day weekend, ending with May Day on 2nd May.
