The Sun quoted Wills as saying: "It's obviously extremely sad and tragic news.
"We've just been reminded what an extraordinary and inspiring man Nelson Mandela was. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family right now."
And one audience member told the paper that the crowd at the Leicester Square Odeon was left stunned by the news.
"The producer Anant Singh hushed the audience and said, 'It is with great sadness that I inform you that President Zuma has announced that Mandela has passed away'.
"It was very eerie because the credits were rolling behind in silence as he told us this."
