Proclaimers Set For No 1!
We're set for a comedy take on the Top 40 this weekend...
Proclaimers' 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' featuring, er, B Potter and A Pipkin will knock Comic Relief rival 'Walk This Way' by Girls Aloud and Sugababes off the top spot this weekend.
The charity hit, which features Phoenix Night's Brian Potter and Little Britain's Andy Pipkin - comedians Peter Kay and Matt Lucas's wheelchair-using alter egos - sold over 30, 000 copies on its first official day of release, yesterday (March 19), with the Babes' tune shifting over 8,000.
Funny man Kay, who was also the brains behind that other whopper of a Red Nose tune '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo', said, "It'll lift people up and hopefully do a lot of good in the process. It was great of The Proclaimers and Matt to help bring the idea to life."
Matt Lucas added, "The Proclaimers are my absolute favourite band of all time. It was a great honour to be allowed to destroy one of their greatest songs."
Other movers and shakers set for Sunday's (March 25) chart include Maximo Park who'll land a top 8 position for storming new tune 'My Velocity' and Avril Lavigne who looks odds-on for a top 5 with 'Girlfriend'.
In the album charts, 'rave-core' rebels 'Enter Shikari' will land a top 3 hit with, 'Take To The Skies'.
