Lead Actor 'Chosen' For Freddie Mercury Biopic

But Queen guitarist Brian May keeps actor's identity secret...

Brian May has revealed that an actor has been chosen to play Queen legend Freddie Mercury in an upcoming biopic.

Speaking to HuffPost UK, May said: "We think we have our man."

But the identity of the man in question remains a mystery, and May insists he's staying tight-lipped until the actor has signed on the dotted line.

"Progress is good," he continued. "You can never say for sure until the contract is signed and the ink is dry, but we think we have our man, we think we have our director, we think we have the script.

"So those three things will enable that button to be pressed, so hopefully in the next two to three weeks, which is good."

A number of stars have been linked with the role of the Queen frontman. Original choice Sacha Baron Cohen left the production earlier this year, after the [uuid=570f0215-ec6e-41eb-9f96-aa351f2611ac]surviving band members vetoed the casting.[/uuid]

More recently Daniel Radcliffe was forced to [uuid=5f0671ca-834b-405c-9f6c-9eba3fd05e45]deny rumours that he was being lined up for the role[/uuid], leaving Skyfall actor Ben Whishaw as the current favourite to land the part.
