R Kelly Charges To Be Dropped?
A number of charges currently hanging over R Kelly may be dropped, after a judge ruled that the digital camera containing photographs of Kelly having sex with an underage girl was seized by police officers illegally.
As such, the prosecution cannot use the photos to try the R&B star with child pornography charges. Judge Dennis Maloney agreed with R Kelly's lawyers that the search warrant used by officers in their raid of the singer's Florida home did not give the Polk County sheriff's detectives the authority to take Kelly's camera, which was wrapped in a towel inside a bag.
Should the prosecution opt not to appeal - a decision they are yet to make - they will be forced to drop the 12 counts of child pornography against Kelly.
The separate child porn charges, which Kelly faces in Chicago, however, will not be affected by Judge's ruling about the camera.
