Game of Thrones Inspired Rag’n’Bone Man’s New Single ‘Skin’
"I found it such a sad moment."
How often do TV shows inspire musicians? Were The Beatles inspired by the theme tune for 1966’s Batman TV series when making the track ‘Taxman’? (“Bat-maaan”/ “Tax-maaan”.) Possibly.
Was Rag’n’Bone Man, this month’s MTV PUSH artist, inspired by Game of Thrones when making his latest single, ‘Skin’? Why, yes. Yes he was.
“It was kind of, slightly, inspired by Game of Thrones. Weirdly enough. Because I remember we wrote the verse parts to it, and it was kind of clear what it was about,” Rag’n’Bone Man said in our exclusive interview.
“I went home, and I watched the episode with Jon Snow and the Wildling girl, and it was obvious that they couldn’t be together. I found it such a sad moment.
“Because obviously they really wanted to be together, but they’re from two separate worlds. And that inspired the chorus. So [‘Skin’ is] weirdly about two different scenarios (laughs).”
Rory Graham – better known as Rag’n’Bone Man – also spoke to us dreaming of being a jungle MC, going to blues jams with his parents and having the police round his house every weekend in Brighton. Check it out below.
