10 Artists That Made Reading Festival 2017

From Bizzle to Blossoms, here's some of the acts that blew us away at Reading 2017...

Lethal Bizzle

One thing is always guaranteed from Bizzle sets, and that’s energy. On Friday afternoon, with the NME/Radio 1 stage full to the brim, he took it up to the next level! The crowd were treated two massive cameos from Skepta and Stormzy, huge renditions of 'Fester Skank', 'Wigback Ting' and 'Pow'. Lethal Bizzle just keeps going from strength to strength and is a certified crowd pleaser, whatever the crowd.

Queens Of Stone Age

Whatever you do, don’t tell anyone…

Every year there is a gap in the schedule that causes the rumour mill to swirl around the campsites. Josh Homme and co. managed to treat both Leeds and Reading to blistering sets on Friday. Highlights include their raucous rendition of ‘No One Knows’ and huge new single ‘The Way You Used To Do’. Could QOTSA treat us to a secret set every year please?!

Bastille

With the sun setting on Friday, Dan and the gang gave the huge main stage crowd an anthem filled set that would they would not forget for a long time. The guys were so happy and delirious about their performance, that Dan accidentally tweeted a picture of Queens Of The Stone Age instead of themselves… Don’t worry guys we forgive you, only because of how amazing you were!

Wolf Alice

As if one secret guest was not enough… On Saturday Wolf Alice rocked up to the Festival Republic at midday to treat those who got into the arena early (we woke up just about in time!). Justifying their billing as one of the best live acts around, the crowd were hit with the raw sounds of ‘Yuk Foo’ and ‘Moaning Lisa Smile’, as well as the delicate new anthem ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’, we could not think of anyone else that could have kicked off the second day better!

Major Lazer

We can’t think of many better ways to party on a Saturday night than having Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire bring the carnival vibes to a pumped crowd! Diplo went running around on the crowd in a zorb ball, the guys spun their biggest tunes, as well as snippets of Usher, Bieber, Kendrick and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and they even had time to confess their love for the UK with Diplo stating “I’m glad I got to party with my favourite people in the world!” No guys, Thank YOU for letting us have the best party of the weekend!

Giggs

The Landlord definitely deserved his Sunday main stage billing, and boy did he deliver a set to remember! Bringing energy from the off with ‘Let’s Lurk’, Kano anthem ‘3 Wheel-Ups’ and JME banger ‘Man Don’t Care’, Hollowman then gave us arguably the biggest moment of the weekend, when Drake came bouncing out for ‘KMT’. Next stop for Giggs after such an iconic set? Surely a headline slot next year?!

Blossoms

The Stockport band have been consistently rising over the last couple of years, and their main stage Sunday slot felt a perfect way to end show how big they have become. With the end of the festival in sight, the MTV Brand New alumni brought big sing-a-long anthems to a crowd that were loving every single second. With such a sleek and polished set, the lads proved they are a force to be reckoned with for many years to come!

J Hus

With arguably the biggest crowd the BBC Radio 1Xtra stage has ever seen, the hottest rising star in the country gave everyone what they wanted. The Top 10 smash ‘Did You See?’ sounded even better than on record, and the monster anthem ‘Fisherman’ was also a highlight. If there is one thing we can guarantee, it’s thatthis London boy will be playing a much bigger stage next year!

Liam Gallagher

The rock ‘n’ roll star had swagger in bucket loads for the penultimate set on the Sunday evening. The crowd was huge, the flares were lit, and Liam delivered the set that everybody wanted from him, anthem after anthem with the best mix of Oasis classics and massive new tracks. It could not get any better! (except for someone stealing his sunglasses after his performance… awks) As you were Reading…

Muse

The band have won on numerous occasions the accolade of ‘Best Live Act In The World’ and on Sunday night they did not disappoint. Stand outs included the riffy ‘Psycho’, the anthemic ‘Time Is Running Out’ and the huge surprise cover of AC/DC’s ‘Back In Black’ featuring rock icon Brian Johnson. As the stupendous firework finale during closing track ‘Knights of Cydonia’ came to an end, it was safe to conclude the Devon rockers had smashed it out the park and brought a fantastic end to a brilliant weekend at Little John’s Farm.
