There's Now A Dating App That Matches You On The Things You Both Hate
Because nothing bonds people like a mutual hatred of slow walkers.
If you're the type of person who chooses friends and romantic relationships based primarily on the few people in existence that don't annoy the hell out of you then this dating app that matches people up based purely on their shared dislikes is probably one for you.
Aptly named 'Hater', the basic idea is to help you find love but with a twist. Because why would you want to find someone who shares your vague interests when you could find someone who intensely hates all the same things as you?
Nothing unites us in life like a common shared enemy and so instead of finding someone who also likes brunching and space movies, it'll help you also find someone who hates slow walkers and those who obsessively Instagram their avocado toast.
While this might sound like a slightly left-field concept it does sort of make sense; plenty of relationships break down because while we might fancy each other, we aren't compatible as humans. So why not lay our cards on the table from the beginning and just match up with people who have similar thoughts and feelings about things that are unacceptable habits in a partner?
Although it's currently in beta testing and yet to be rolled out in full, the app currently offers more than 2,000 pet peeves for people to bond over and includes topics like Donald Trump and having to pay extra for guacamole.
These are clearly pretty innocuous things to hate on, but an app like this could easily turn nasty. There's no need to worry though as according to the creators, they've worked extremely hard to make sure that discrimination will never be part of the product.
"We view hate speech as completely unacceptable," Hater CEO Brendan Alper tells The Cut. "We have zero tolerance for any sort of bigotry or hate speech or discrimination.”
But would you use Hater? Let us know with a tweet to @MTVUK already.
Now how about watching a video of guys and girls trying to guess what weird sex toys are for? Ok then...
