Kasabian Cite Cyrpress Hill, Michael Jackson & (Obvs) Leicester In Their ‘Soundchain’
Plus watch the band perform 'Bumblebeee' live at Camden's Electric Ballroom...
In the premiere episode of our new show Relentless Ultra Presents Soundchain With Zane Lowe, a series that explores the musical inspirations of seven of today's most influential artists, 48:13 rockers Kasabian walked us through their musical influences.
With a soundchain starting off in their home town of Leicester, visiting 5HQ Records and exploring the Midlands' rave scene, Tom and Serge also cited Michael Jackson, Portishead, DJ Shadow, Cypress Hill and 90s Brit Pop bands like Oasis, Blur and Pulp as artists who have shaped the Kasabian sound.
During the show the band also treated us to stonking live performances of 'eez-eh', 'stevie' and 'bumblebeee' in Camden's Electric Ballroom.
Looking to the future and keeping Kasabian's soundchain moving, we picked fellow Midlands-based psychadelic group Temples who've supported the band on tour a few times. Make sure to check out their track 'Mesmerise' ...
