Disclosure Reveal They Thought Hit Single 'Latch' Was "Really Weird" At First
It seems the boys weren't so keen on their hit single when they first recorded it...
Brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence have been making music together since 2010, and with their debut album Settle taking the world by storm and new album Caracal being highly anticipated, Nick Grimshaw sat down with the boys to discuss their journey in music.
The lads explain how growing up with garage and house helped mould their unique, signature sound but despite seeming über confident with their music right now, when the pair first made hit single 'Latch', they weren't so sure about it…
When asked by Grimmy whether they knew it was a instant hit, Guy explains how it was completely the opposite: "Honestly, our first reaction was, 'this song is really weird.'"
Howard goes on to explain how they were embarrassed to share it with their friends, saying: "I remember taking it home and showing it to my mates. I remember thinking at the time, I was a bit embarrassed to play it, I was like 'this guy [Sam Smith] has got the most incredible voice but we wrote a bit of a weird tune.'"

He continued: "I played it and they were like 'I love it', and I was like 'oh right, okay good!' I wasn't sure whether I should play it to them, I didn't know how they'd react."
Luckily for them this positive reaction meant that they released the song, took over the world, and the rest is history.
