The Reverend Interview
Jon McClure talks to MTV News about his new single Open Your Window and plans to work with The Enemy
Reverend And The Makers frontman Jon has spoken to MTV News as the groups new single comes out.
The Sheffield native released his debut album The State Of Things in September. It featured a collaborations with Arctic Monkey Alex Turner and the monster single Heavyweight Champion.
Now the group are back with Open You Window so we thought wed catch up with the Rev.
Open Your Window is a freedom song like a lot of my tracks, Jon told MTV News. Its about a girl who is romantically involved with me and Im telling her ex to let her go.
The singer/poet continued: Paris At Night though- the b-side- is the best thing Ive ever written. Weve recorded another B-side with (UK rapper) Braintax too.
On the bands recent UK tour and at their Electric Proms show fans have been treated to extra special aftershows:
The other night I said to the audience come outside in the car park and Ill play you the second album. We ended up playing to loads of people off the side of a van, McClure told us.
Despite his debut LP only having been available for a month it seems the ultra-intelligent musician is planning his next move.
Ive already written the second record, he said. It sounds like Forever Changes (classic Love album). (I make music) from Electronica to Organica.
Me and Tom from The Enemy have been talking about working together. There will be a few surprises because everything I do is different- thats why critics have a problem.
Here The Reverend acknowledges the tabloid journalists who are keen to blow his comments- on people like Johnny Borrell- out of proportion.
Whenever I see people who are cash whores I have to say it. People have got it into their heads that Im a negative person but Im not Im just honest. We are about peace and love and unity.
Open your Window is out November 19
