The biggest shock to the music world in 2007- aside from Britneys decent comeback single- was Radiohead giving away their album for free (or however much you wanted to pay for it).
Thom and the group released In Rainbows via theyre own website bypassing record labels altogether. It was immediately lauded as one of the years best albums.
Elsewhere on the indie scene the Gonzo 5th Birthday Tour careered around the country. Zane DJd and Babyshambles, Bloc Party and Funeral For A Friend played their smallest gigs in years.
Lindsay Lohan left rehab after a few months and Britney lost custody of her two young children. The divorce battle between Heather Mills and Paul McCartney got messy while Pete Doherty claimed he was clean.
November
Er, Pete Doherty wasnt clean as he was caught by the tabloids chasing the dragon the day after our MTV Europe Music Awards.
In Munich the award show of the year took place with Amy, Pete, Avril, Will I Am and loads of others performing. Snoop excelled himself as host for the evening. Foo Fighters take the award for best performance and most drunken presenting. Bring in Liverpool in 08
And Arcade Fire hit our shores for sold out gigs across the country including a very fine gig in London.
December
And this very month became known for two big reunions. The Spice Girls were together on stage for the first time in 9 years and (shock horror) werent miming. Posh however didnt have her own solo song and admitted in an interview: I was never going to be the best singer or the best dancer or the best actress.
Led Zeppelin also played their much heralded reunion gig to 5 star reviews. It now looks like theyll tour and even record an album next year. Bring on 2008.
