Rhys Ifans Confirmed For Spiderman Film

He’ll play the baddie opposite Andrew Garfield…

The new Spiderman ‘reboot’ looks set to be a very British affair with both the hero and villain played by stars from our shores.

Rhys Ifans has just been announced for a big role in the movie, though it hasn’t been revealed what character he will play.
Earlier this year Andrew Garfield was announced by studio Sony to be the new Spidey. He made his name in British TV like Boy A and Red Riding before heading to Hollywood for a major role in The Social Network.
Ifans meanwhile is famous for starring in Notting Hill and current cinema release Mr Nice.
Marc Webb- the man behind (500) Days Of Summer and music videos for bands like Green Day - will direct the film. He said:
What sets the Spider-Man villains apart is the complexity of their relationships with Peter Parker. Rhys' incredible ability to embody both warmth and rage makes him the ideal choice for this character.”
Last week it was announced that Emma Stone will take the role of Gwen Stacy in the as yet untitled comic book picture.
