Ricky Gervais 'Planning David Brent: The Movie'

Ricky Gervais has revealed that he hopes to make a movie based on his most-famous character David Brent.

The star and creator of The Office has given a lengthy interview to The Hollywood Reporter, in which he explained that the recent return of Brent in a series of web shorts was part of a bigger plan.

THR reports that he "plans to sign a record deal for his Office character, whom he recently revived through his YouTube series Learn Guitar With David Brent".

And it explains: "The instalments began as a stunt for charity, but Gervais hopes they will be the basis for a movie about Brent trying to make it in the music industry."

Gervais is claimed to be rehearsing with a band for a series of high-profile charity gigs later this year, in which he will appear in character as Brent.
