Lady Gaga Not The Only One For Product Placement
Did Rihanna speak too soon?
You may remember whenRihannalashed out on Lady GaGa for putting blatant product placement in her Telephone video, but it now turns out that Rihanna has done the same thing - although more subtly - in her video for Rude Boy.
In a recent interview, Shigenori Itoh, Vice President of Casio’s Timepiece Division said: “We are excited to have Rihanna representing Baby-G and G-Shock Mini through her music video. As a trendsetter in the fashion and entertainment world, Rihanna is the perfect example of style, originality and edge which Baby-G and G-Shock Mini proudly symbolize.”
The previously unseen press release for the Casio/Rude Boy project went a little something like this:
"Rihanna’s mix of R&B edge with pop glam aligns perfectly with the functional style of both the Baby-G and G-Shock Mini lines. In “Rude Boy,” Rihanna adorns three Baby-G models: the hot pink on pink (BG5601-4), the hot pink band with a white face (BG5601-7) and the eye-catching neon yellow on yellow (BG5602-9). With shock resistance and water resistance for up to 100 meters, the Baby-G line is ready to meet the demands of Rihanna’s high-energy performances. Also equipped with world time in 48 cities and 5 daily alarms, Rihanna can make sure she’s on time and in style no matter where her travels take her."
