Rihanna Arrives At NYFW Amid Controversy Over Cancelled CBS Performance
Singer allegedly dropped from pre-NFL show due to involvement in 'high-profile domestic violence incident'…
Rihanna has been wowing crowds at New York Fashion Week but it’s not just her stylish ensemble that’s been making headlines.
The singer was set to perform at a pre-NFL show but has allegedly been dropped in the wake of the Ray Rice domestic violence scandal.
TMZ claims that CBS cancelled Ri-Ri’s performance because they "didn't want to feature another celebrity who was involved in a high-profile domestic violence incident".
The network planned to open its broadcast of a game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens with a musical segment featuring RiRi singing Jay-Z’s Run This Town.
However, since a video emerged showing the Ravens' Ray Rice punching his now wife and knocking her unconscious, the network has decided not to include Ri-Ri, who was famously assaulted by her then boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009.
CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said, "We thought journalistically and from a tone standpoint, we needed to have the appropriate tone coverage,” reports TMZ.
