Rihannalooks set to take the lead role in remake of the classic Whitney Houston/ Kevin Costner film The Bodyguard.

After flying to New York this weekend to discuss the project Rihanna hooked up with friends, Jay-Z and Beyonce to party at The Spotted Pig gastropub. The couple even closed off an entire floor to make sure that their friend wasn’t hassled.

NY Daily News claim that Rihanna has been eager to start her movie career for sometime and has been checking scripts for a while. Channing Tatum of G.I Joe fame has been rumoured for Costner’s role in The Bodyguard.

The website also claim that Rihanna is considering a Charlie’s Angels’ sequel that could see her working once again with Rehab collaborator Justin Timberlake.

Before the Chris Brown incident (link), Rihanna was on track for a busy year and it looks like she’s determined to get back on top, she has been working on a new album that is pencilled for release this year.

Two tracks from the forthcoming album, We Own The Night and Pretty Girl Blues have already been cut and Ne-Yo is said to be writing and producing material for the Umbrella Star.
