Rihanna Sends $5k To School After Late Show

RiRi pays the price for tardiness after showing up late at high school...

Rihanna has paid the price for her tardiness, forking out $5,000 to a high school after turning up late for a planned appearance.

The Stay singer was due at Barrington High School in Chicago in March to congratulate the winner of her Shine Bright Like A Diamond competition.

But things didn't go quite as planned, with RiRi turning up more than four hours late.

The singer has made up for her late appearance, however, gifting the school a sizeable sum as compensation.

Acting as a spokesman for the school - which spent $2,000 on security and promotion for the event - Jeff Arnett told The Daily Herald: "We're certainly gratified to receive a contribution from her.

"Even though this $5,000 gift has been long in coming, her management communicated with us immediately after the event and said she wanted to do something for the students."

He added: "It didn't take any coaxing or pleading by the district. It was something they offered to do, and it took a while to work through the book-keeping process."

And it wasn't all bad for the kids who were kept waiting, as RiRi's people handed out free concert tickets and signed merchandise before the Bajan pop star arrived.

Mr Arnett added: "In all, I think the students and everybody involved would consider the event a worthwhile experience."
