Rihanna’s Next Album To Rival ‘Thriller’?

Label boss compares Ri-Ri to Jackson...

Rihanna’s next album may be as good as Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’, according to Def Jam vice president Bu Thiam.

The record exec made the bold claim in a Vibe blog post, stating that the 22-year-old’s next release will rival the legendary ‘Thriller’, which remains one of the biggest sellers of all time.

“Rihanna is coming along incredibly,” Thiam wrote. “I’m trying to push her to where every song will be a hit from one to 12. I’m talking about NO album fillers. Our bar for this album is Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’.”

“She’s great to work with and very hands on with every song that’s being written and produced,” he added. “She has visual concepts for just about every song. It’s already giving me the feel of a timeless album, and right now is her time.”

Rihanna’s album, due next year, includes collaborations with Stargate, Ester Dean, Mel & Mus and Rock City. Ne-Yo, Taio Cruz and The-Dream are also thought to be involved.

David Guetta is another who recently confirmed he had penned a track for the Barbadian star, and saidhoped it would make the album’s final cut. "The beat’s ready so we just have to make sure it’s OK with our schedules,” the DJ told the Daily Star.

In other Rihanna news, the backstage rider for her Last Girl on Earth tour has been revealed... and it’s not what you’d expect.

According to The Smoking Gun, Rihanna’s demands range from the expected – a plush white 6-foot couch, white tulips, no harsh lighting – to some stranger requests – a “thin” full-length mirror, six throw pillows and a rug, all of which must be in cheetah or leopard print, and, most importantly, “NO sequins” anywhere in the star’s vicinity.
