Jay Z's Roc Nation Is Suing Rita Ora For £1.6 Million In Contract Dispute

Basically, everyone’s just suing each other.

Last month, Rita Ora filed a lawsuit against her record label Roc Nation, claiming that her contract was ‘unenforceable’.

But clearly two can play that game, because Roc Nation have sued Rita right back for £1.6 million – because she’s hasn’t fulfilled her side of the deal.

Yep, strap yourselves in everyone, because it’s time for some seriously exciting lawsuit talk.

Jay Z’s label have accused Rita of breaking contract and ‘failing to deliver’ her second album, which they had already spent £1.4 million developing and marketing.

Hitting back at the singer’s claims that she was essentially forgotten about, Roc Nation state they took a chance on Rita when she was an ‘unknown singer’.

It goes on: “[The label] has tirelessly promoted [her] career, investing millions of dollars in marketing, recording and other costs, which was instrumental in guiding Ms. Ora to her current level of success and fame.”

But to make things a little more confusing for our non-law knowing brains, it looks like Rita will be free from her contract soon either way.

Her lawyer told Page Six: “Jay Z has personally and graciously promised Rita complete freedom from Roc Nation, the details of which are now being finalised.”

So… yeah. Let’s have some new Rita music soon, then.
