New Music Round-Up: Rita Ora, Taylor Swift, Liam Payne and More
Singles
Rita Ora - 'Anywhere'
You can always rely on Rita Ora to come through with a banger and 'Anywhere' is just that. That being said on repeated listens we think that 'Anywhere' could not only be the single of Rita's career but maybe even the single of the year - a beautiful ode to escapism with an ABBA esque chorus and a euphoric beat drop. Music doesn't get much better than this. A total triumph.
Taylor Swift - 'Gorgeous'
Three songs into Reputation and it's still rather unclear as to what the album will sound like. While it's very evident that Taylor is still embracing pop, each song so far sounds completely different. 'Gorgeous' is, as the title suggests, gorgeous. Backed with some 80s synths, it's a lovely ode to falling for someone beautiful. Max Martin and Taylor bring out the best in each other.
Liam Payne - 'Bedroom Floor'
Liam Payne gets intimate on his third solo single. Potentially his best release to date.
Moxiie - 'Complicated (feat. Swish Allnet)'
Moxiie has released brilliant music over the past few years and 'Complicated' is no different. The single confronts the fact that people expect her to conform to boxes when she can't be anything but herself. 'Complicated' proves that herself is brilliant.
Loop - 'Maybe I'm a Liar'
A brilliant single by a brilliant singer.
CNCO - 'Mamita'
After teaming up with Little Mix on 'Reggaeton Lento (Remix)', CNCO are back with a bop of their own.
Hayley Kiyoko - 'Feelings'
Sugary pop magic by a promising new popstar.
Justin Bieber & BloodPop® - 'Friends [Remix] (feat. Julia Micheals)'
'Friends' was already wonderful but there's something special about hearing it with Julia Michaels on board. Having co-written the song herself, there's no doubt that Julia has a personal connection to 'Friends' and she complements Justin perfectly.
Kelly Clarkson - 'Meaning of Life' / 'Christmas Eve'
Kelly Clarkson delivers the vocal performance of her career on the title track of her new album. A soulful number from start to finish with glorious high notes throughout. Oh and Kelly's released a surprise Christmas song too because she's amazing.
Fifth Harmony - 'He Like That [Remix] (feat. French Montana)' / 'Can You See'
Fifth Harmony are back with a radio-ready French Montana remix of their excellent new single 'He Like That'. Not only that but they also hop on the Christmas train too with the gospel-inspired 'Can You See' for upcominging animated film The Star.
5 After Midnight - 'Taste'
After wowing us all with 'Up in Here', 5 After Midnight are back with a toe-tapping hit.
Naughty Boy - 'One Chance to Dance (feat. Joe Jonas)'
We wouldn't put Naughty Boy and Joe Jonas together on paper but this is great.
Maroon 5 - 'Whiskey (feat. A$AP Rocky)'
Adam Levine delivers a brilliant vocal performance on this moving ballad.
Mariah Carey - 'Star'
A brand new Christmas anthem from the Christmas queen herself.
Nick Jonas - 'Home'
Nick Jonas masters the soundtrack game with an uplifting hit.
Martin Garrix - 'Forever (feat. Matisse & Sadko)'
Martin is back. Get ready to fist-pump to this one!
Sigma - 'Forever (feat. Quavo & Sebastian Cole)'
Sigma go trap on their new single.
