The Black Widow songstress has been the centre of a ratherpublic war of words with ex Calvin Harris this month, after he banned her from performing a song at the Teen Choice Awards because he produced it.

"People forget that I’m a 23-year-old girl. What do normal girls my age do? They’re at uni, dating. It’s been difficult but it takes more than a few words to knock this girl out," she told The Sun backstage at the VMAs.

"I'm so lucky I'm surrounded by the best friends in the entire universe. And I'm so focused on getting this album finished. I'm blessed by distractions."

There were reports stating that her feud with Harris meant her album release date was pushed back, though she has now set the record straight saying that this is not the case.

"It was always meant to have been released early next year. That's never changed. I don't understand why people said anything different."
