From Riverdale To The OC: 8 Of The Most Iconic Teen Shows Of All Time
*Grabs popcorn*
There’s nothing better than snuggling up under a blanket and tuning into a really good TV series and thankfully, most writers out there don’t take their young audience for granted.
In proof that teen programmes are some of the best, most important, and most challenging pieces of drama going, we’ve collected up a bunch of projects that will go down in history for being way better than anyone expected.
Riverdale
The CW series has everything a viewer could ask for, including murder, a cast that are ridiculously gorgeous (seriously, can we just throw a regular looking person into the mix for variety?), some great humour and an overall gripping storyline.
13 Reasons Why
It’s come in for criticism in the past, but no teen series out there has opened up discussions that are quite so important, topical, and quite frankly dark AF as 13 Reasons Why. There’s nothing light about this offering but its impact has been huge.
Pretty Little Liars
The teen drama mystery thriller managed to keep viewers guessing right up to its conclusion. Viewers who weren’t ready to say goodbye to Rosewood are currently looking forward to the show’s upcoming spin-off, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.
Gossip Girl
The CW show ran for six seasons and revolved around the life and times of a bunch of privileged upper class teenagers living in Manhatten’s Upper East Side. Wealth, beauty, and a healthy portion of scandal? A recipe for success.
The Vampire Diaries
Proving that the world will never get bored of a supernatural teen series involving some hot undead beings, The Vampire Diaries ran for eight years and centred around some mysterious goings on in the fictional town of Mystic Falls.
Glee
It doesn’t matter how bad your day is, tuning into Glee is guaranteed to boost your mood. The show might be light and fluffy on its exterior but it explored a variety of issues in its time including sexuality, race, and social justice. Go, Glee!
Teen Wolf
The MTV programme centred around Scott McCall, who got bitten by a werewolf the night before his sophomore year, and spent the rest of his time trying to balance his new identity with his regular teenage life. A classic teen conundrum.
The OC
The ultimate teen series, this programme centres around troubled teen, Ryan Attwood, who gets adopted into a wealthy household in Newport Beach. Romance, drama, and death (eek, that's a bit of a spoiler) naturally ensues.
Brb, just bingewatching them all.
