Riverdale’s KJ Apa Gets Real About Being Trolled Online: ‘You Do Get Gutted’
But he's so precious.
Now that KJ Apa is a bonafide celeb after his Riverdale and A Dog’s Purpose successes, he’s quickly learning that there sadly are one or two downsides to fame, mainly the trolls.
The New Zealand actor recently explained that it can be a tough world being in the limelight, but he’s lucky as he’s surrounded by those who have all been there before and can guide him down the right path.
"It gets gnarly at times, but I think you can't pay too much attention to the social media stuff," he told Stuff.co.nz. "It can become dangerous if you're reading too much, because there's always bad stuff. There's good stuff but there's always going to be bad stuff. You do get gutted.”
But who would want to gut such a beautiful human? Thankfully his River co-star Luke Perry, who starred in the OG Beverly Hills 90210, has his back.
"He said, 'Y'know, this kind of thing happens all the time, it's nothing to do with you,'" he said.
"But I went to him and I spoke to him and he helped me. He's the biggest legend, and obviously he went through the whole thing on a way bigger scale than even Riverdale, you know Beverly Hills 90210 was massive, so I think he is the best guy to talk to, and I'm really close with him."
Aww, isn’t that just lovely.
