A 'Dark And Occult' Sabrina The Teenage Witch/Riverdale Spin Off Is In The Works

Something wicked this way comes

Already counting down the days ‘til you can watch Hocus Pocus on repeat, whack out the fake blood and get the 99p plastic fangs out? Then we have a Halloween (trick or) treat for you, spooky socks.

It’s been revealed that 90s fave Sabrina The Teenage Witch is getting a cute and creepy reboot for the Milennial age - and this time, it’s gonna be a Riverdale spin-off.

The team behind Riverdale are set to give Sabrina a 2017 makeover to create a companion series, but it sounds as though it’ll be VERY different to the old school episodes that you watched back in the day.

Forget Harvey Kinkle and mean cheerleaders called Libby, because Warner Brothers is giving the show a darkreboot for 2018/2019 full of “horror, the occult and witchcraft”. YAS.

And if you’re wondering how Sabrina The Teenage Witch has anything in common with Riverdale by the way, they’re both based on Archie Comics series.

According to Variety, this new Sabrina would be based on the original Archie Comics’ series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which is more of a dark coming-of-age story about a girl who battles her messy half witch/half mortal life “while standing against the evil forces that threaten her.”

Variety said: “The series is described as being tonally in the vein of horror classics like Romemary’s Baby and The Exorcist.”

Riverdale director Lee Toland Krieger will also be executive producing, along with a handful of other names who are known as being the brains behind Riverdale, so you know it's gonna be good.

As for the cast, OG Sabrina Melissa Joan Hart has probably hung up her broomstick for good – but it’s heavily rumoured that Dove Cameron could be in the running after she posted a photo of an old Sabrina The Teenage Witch comic on her Instagram.

Either way, if this means Jughead stumbles acrossa sassy talking cat as his new companion when the supernatural somehow hits Riverdale, we’re totally on board with it.
