If you're all aboard the good ship Bughead then we may have some bad newsas according to these brand new Riverdale season 2 spoilers, it looks like they could be headed for an imminent iceberg.

Yep - while Betty and Jughead (aka apparentreal life lovebirds Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse) might seem perfect together, it looks like Juggy's decision to join the Southside Serpents is about to cause some serious trouble for his love life.

They aren't the only couple headed for stormy times either and with the squad nowon the hunt for who shot Fred Andrews thanks to *that*cliffhanger ending toseason 1, there's no plain sailing in store for Veronica and Archie's newly blossoming relationship either.

As showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed to TV Line this week, the search for Fred's killer "leads into darker chapters of Riverdale’s history... and puts all of our characters on the defensive."

"It’s almost like every force in the universe is out to pry Bughead apart," he explained. "There are going to be problems coming in multiple different directions, besieging both of our couples."

We already knew that Riverdale newbie Toni Topaz is set to cause friction between Betty and Jughead but with Hiram Lodge also set to return to town this season, it sounds like there's going to be a lot more to the story than a simple love triangle.

Riverdale returns on October 11th, so until then we'll just have to keep our fingers, toes and chock'lit shops crossed that the show creators see sense and let Bughead and Varchie stay strong.
