Robbie Williams has stated he's looking forward to taking on pal Gary Barlow in the album charts.

The Q Awards: "I don’t know if he’s looking forward to it but I am.

“If he does outsell me or win, it’ll be the crowning glory for him.”

Robbie - who [uuid=9a666ac3-b917-4699-ab01-ca0c4baf6c29]picked up the Idol award[/uuid] at the ceremony - went on to say of his new LP: “Five songs I’ve written myself — which I’m sure you’ll be really f***ing chuffed about.

“Six written by proper musicians, too.”

The 39-year old also added that daughter Teddy Rose has become an inspiration for his songwriting, stating: "She has give me perspective and anchored me to the planet. I’ve got so many songs to write about her.”

Williams' new single Go Gentle is due for release on November 11.
