Robbie Williams Has Given 17 Of His 18 BRIT Awards To His Celebrity Mates, Including Wayne Rooney

"You know when Jose Mourinho gave away his Premier League medals straight away? That's like me."

From Kanye giving his Best Rap/Hip-Hop AMA Award to Lil Wayne back in 2008, to Adele breaking her Best Album GRAMMY in two and sharing it with Beyoncé this year, it seems like nobody wants to hang onto their gongs. Robbie Williams is no different.

Speaking to The Sun, Robbie revealed that he’s given 17 of his 18 BRIT Awards away to his celebrity mates.

"I've given them all away but Ayda made me keep that,” Robbie said. “You know when Jose Mourinho gave away his Premier League medals straight away? That's like me.

"It's a monument to something that's already happened and I'm onto the next thing and I want more. Paddy McGuinness strangely has one. He gave me a comedy award and I gave him a Brit.

"Phil Taylor has one, Wayne Rooney gave me a pair of his World Cup boots for one, they're just in the house."

You know what we like about this story? How Robbie Williams has used his armada of BRIT Awards as bargaining chips for various boots and gongs. We know what Robbie traded two of his BRITs for, but what else has he exchanged them for? For example, has Robbie Williams traded a BRIT Award for takeaway pizza? We hope so, but probably not. Has Robbie Williams traded a BRIT for a vape kit? Almost definitely*.

(*Robbie Williams has categorically not traded a BRIT Award for a vape kit.)

In other news, Robbie Williams is to be the third recipientof the BRITs Icon Award, the most prestigious accolade the BRIT Awards dishes out. The previous winners are Sir Elton John and David Bowie.

The BRIT Awards are tonight at 7:30, on ITV. MTV will be down there reporting on all the massive performances (list of all tonight’s performers here) and all the big wins (full list of nominees here), so stay tuned. It’s going to be special.
