Robbie Williams To Replace Simon On The X Factor?
And there’s a Robbie musical in the works!
Robbie Williams is being lined up to replace Simon Cowell on The X Factor, according to reports.
Producers are seeking an A-list star to fill Simon’s shoes should he decide to concentrate his efforts on the US version, rather than do both shows consecutively.
"Robbie is a huge name so would naturally be a massive ratings hit. Not only that, he is also straight-talking and comical,” a show insider told the Daily Star. "We all understand that right now America is where Simon's focus has to be. There aren't many people that can fill his shoes, but Robbie just might be able to do it."
Take That’s Progress Live tour ends in July, meaning that Williams – if he took the job – would miss some of the auditions but be available in time for the judges’ houses stage and the live shows.
In other Robbie news, reports state that he is considering allowing his songs to be made into a West End musical, a la Mamma Mia or We Will Rock You. It’s thought that Rob has given scriptwriters access to his back catalogue so they can write a show based on the lyrics of his biggest hits, including Angels and Feel.
Spice Girls are the next act to see their songs transformed into a stage musical, with Viva Forever set to open in 2012.
