That's right - Robert Downey Jr. now has a Twitter account and he wants everyone to talk to him.

Well, at least that's what the actor said in his first ever tweet from his verified account.

"Talk to me, Twitter", were his first words on the social media site, accompanied by a picture of the star looking ridiculously cool in a pair of shades, holding a sign bearing his Twitter-handle.

The actor has since gained over half a million followers - good going for a profile that's so far only nine hours old!

True to his sense of humour, the Iron Man star joked with fans in a follow-up post about the difficulties of composing a tweet.

"Loving all the love, folks. It's been a blast. Though can somebody please explain how anyone can keep their thoughts to 140 characters or le-", he tweeted.
