Robert Downey Jr’s son has been charged with felony drug possession following his arrest back in June.

According to TMZ, Indio Falconer Downey has also been charged with the misdemeanour offence of possession of drug paraphernalia.

[related]The 20-year-old was arrested on 29 June when LA cops pulled over a ‘suspicious’ vehicle in which he was a passenger. He was allegedly in possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

TMZ reports that since it’s Indio’s first offence, he will be automatically entitled to a drug diversion programme. And according to the Mail Online, he has already received treatment at the Cliffside facility in Malibu.

Since his arrest, dad Robert - who famously struggled with his own addiction problems - has rallied to help Indio deal with his drug problem, telling E! News: “We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."
