See Robert Pattinson As Lawrence Of Arabia In New Movie

Twilight star rocks a keffiyeh in promo for Queen Of The Desert...

You've seen him as a vampire in Twilight, as a billionaire playboy in Cosmopolis and as a struggling actor in Maps To The Stars.

And now Robert Pattinson can be seen portraying British army officer TE Lawrence in his latest movie, Werner Herzog's Queen Of The Desert - the full trailer for which has just dropped.

R-Pattz is a supporting member of the cast - with Nicole Kidman in the lead role as Gertrude Bell and James Franco as her main love interest.

Better known as Lawrence of Arabia, his character is a British army officer who fought with Arab militia against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War.

But the movie catches him before that, when he was working as an archaeologist in the Middle East - but already sporting the iconic arab headdress the keffiyeh.

Director Herzog told Bande A Parte of casting R-Pattz: "It's not a big part, and it matched perfectly.

"I needed an Englishman who still looks like a schoolboy but which is very smart. He plays Lawrence of Arabia, but at the age of 22, on an archaeological site.

"Kidman, who plays the main role is wondering what that kid has to do in a place like this, and an archaeologist tells her that this kid has a PhD. Pattinson is really good in that role. He is a smart man and the choice was quite natural."

The movie's release date is still to be confirmed.
