Robyn Live Review

Heaven, London 17/06/10

Back performing in London for for the first time in years, Robyn faced an expectant and highly excited crowd as she took the stage at Heaven.
Opening with stomping electro-anthem Fembots she proceed to power through tracks from new album Body Talk (Part 1) and some heavily remixed versions of her previous hits.
Current single Dancing On My Own went down a storm, and set a high energy pace which maintained momentum right through to the end of the set.
Older tracks such as Cobrastyle, Be Mine! and Who's That Girl were performed by the double drummer-led band as retooled techno pounders, with Konichiwa Bitches even gaining a dash of The Cure.
The harder edge given to Robyn's material live perfectly suited the venue and its bass heavy sound system, and with any luck it will feature prominently on the forthcoming Body Talk Parts 2 and 3 due later this year.
By the time she left the stage after the now obligatory With Every Heartbeat it seemed that Robyn's claim to be “the killingest pop star on the planet” is now looking to be, if anything, a little modest.
