Rod Stewart Tops Albums Chart With Time
As Daft Punk enjoys another week at No 1 in the singles chart…
Rod Stewart has gone straight in at the top of the Official UK Albums Chart with Time.
The last time the legendary rocker enjoyed a top spot on the British albums chart was more than 30 years ago - and Time is the 68-year-old’s first fully self-penned album in more than 20 years.
Speaking to Reuters recently, Rod revealed that song writing is a slow process for him.
"I've written some decent songs, but I've never considered myself a songwriter because it doesn't come naturally," he said. "It doesn't flow out of my pen like it does with some songwriters, it's always been a struggle. It was much more enjoyable this time round."
Gabrielle Aplin took the No 2 spot with new entry English rain - while Vampire Weekend reached No 3 with their new entry Modern Vampires Of The City.
Caro Emerald dropped into fourth place with The Shocking Miss Emerald and in fifth place is Rudimental with Home.
Meanwhile, over in the Official UK Singles Chart it was fourth time lucky for Daft Punk.
The French dance act stayed at No 1 for the fourth consecutive week with Get Lucky (ft. Pharrell Williams).
Passenger rose one place to No 2 with Let Her Go while Demi Lovato secured a place at No 3 with new entry Heart Attack.
Rising one place to No 4 is Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Can't Hold Us and at No 5 is Rudimental's Waiting All Night (ft. Ella Eyre)
