Roger Sanchez Takes It Old Skool For Your Weekend Playlist

The legendary DJ has picked out 10 tunes that you really need in your life...

Roger Sanchez hasn't released a track under his own name in what feels likefreakin' years - concentrating more on his S-Man guise, but last month the 'Another Chance' chart-topper released the aptly titled'Remember Me' - a return to a more killer main room sound.

To celebrate his return, the legend has put together this weekend mix for y'all featuring ten tunes of current tracks he's loving and some old skool ones that 'never' get old...

1. Roger Sanchez - 'Remember Me'

"This is the first song I've released as Roger Sanchez in over a year and thistime it's with the fantastic vocals of a new artist coincidentally namedStealth, like my label. I have been focusing on more undergroundproductionsunder my S-Man alias but felt the time was right to drop this one which ismore geared to my Roger Sanchez following. The chords and lyrics are veryemotional and it's been my biggesttune of the summer so far!"

2. Michel Cleis & Klement Bonelli – 'Marvinello'

"I revived this over a year ago from Klement and thought it would neverofficialy see release. It features the inimitable voice of Marvin Gaye and hasbecome an anthem for me. Now that it's officially been released Ithink thisone will become a monster for Micheal and Klement. The part that always grabseveryone is when the bass slams in after the breakdown with just a woodblockpercussion and Marvin's voice. It sendschills up my spine every time!"

3. Tough Love - 'So Freakin' Tight'

"The dynamic duo from London have been absolutely killing it since last yearand this tune was the first one that truly exploded for them. I thought it wasgenius sampling this Jodeci hook and bringing it up to date. The bouncingbassline reminds me of 90s House but the production is fresh and current andquite cheeky. They asked me to remix it under my S-Man moniker and I had a lotof fun taking back into the dirtyunderground vibe."

4. Tori Amos - 'Professional Widow' (Armand'sStarTrunk Funkin' Mix)

"To me this was one of the defining moments for Armand Van Helden in the 90swhen after having massive success with 'U Don't Know Me' he continuedreinventing his sound and dominating the remix game withbanger after banger.I remember that I first got this and played it at The Octagon in NY and thebassline literally made everyone scream when it dropped! Tori's ethereal andhaunting vocal during the breakdowncreated space and tension until the bassdropped back in and that was a secret weapon for the weekend!"

5. Disclosure Ft .Gregory Porter - 'Holding On'

"I'm a big fan of both Disclosure and Gregory Porter and both of them togethersounds like magic to me. Gregory has a huge and soulful voice that pairsperfectly with the 90s infused deep vibes of Disclosure. I'mimpressed howthey have adopted a sound that myself and others made big in the 90s buttotally re-invented it and made it their own, I credit them with having a keypart in the resurgence of House in the UK recently."

6. The Bucketheadz - 'The Bomb'

"Masters At Work were massively influential and prolific in the 90's heydayof House, but Kenny Dope was a force to be reckoned with on his own. Hisknowledge of Funk, Soul and Disco was incredible! I used togo beat shoppingwith him in those days and we would uncover rare gems to sample. His abilityto turn these into killer dance floor weapons was awe inspiring but he out didhimself with this Chicago-samplinganthem. The intro is a 4 minute tribalbeats workout that catches you by surprise when it drops into the disco infusedmain hook. This is still an essential tune and a highlight when I do my classic house sets!"

7. Tough Love & S Man Ft.Nastaly- 'In The Name Of Love'

"This was my first collaboration with Alex & Stef aka Tough Love featuring thevocals of Nastaly under my S-Man moniker and we got together during one of mytrips to London in their studio to finish it. It's all aboutthe hauntingvocals of Nastylee and the bass on this one. The first time I dropped it wasat the Ministry Of Sound event I played right after we had finished it and Iknew we had something special by the crowdreaction when the bass dropped.Everyone went mental!"

8. Stardust - 'The Music Sounds Better With You'

"I got this from Thomas Bangelter (Daft Punk) right before the Winter MusicConference prior to it's release later that year - back when records wereactually broken during WMC - and this was THE record of theconference! Everymajor DJ was playing it and by the end of the conference you could hear the crowdssinging along the hook "Ooh Baby!" The guitars and chords still send tinglesup my spine when I play it and asmile on my face! The track is simple yetdevastatingly effective and was where I learned how important the rightcompression on a track can bring out bass frequencies you didn't know werethere."

9. Ultra Nate - 'Free'

"This was one of the biggest records that Strictly Rhythm released in the 90sand is still an anthem today. Ultra is a gifted artist and captured so muchemotion with her chorus of "'cause you're freeeeee!" that itbecame almost abattle cry on the dance floors of New York at the time. Mood 2 Swing'sproduction was a perfect combination of flamenco and soul influenced guitarsand stomping bass and drums that still sound fresh today."

10. Roger Sanchez - 'Another Chance'

"I couldn't have a Top 10 weekend anthem countdown without this one! Arguablyone of the best known tracks I have ever made, this shot to #1 in the UK in2001 and it's success totally caught me by surprise at thetime. It captures aboth melancholy yet euphoric emotion with the chords and vocals and I havebeen told stories by fans of how it has been the song that brought themtogether with their spouses of caused themto fall in love on the dance floor. All of which puts a smile on my face and lets me know why I do what I do!"
